As a market leader in RPAS quadrocopters, we are well aware how important good support is for our customers and partners.

The latest drivers and firmware can be downloaded here. Various PC programs are also available.

Our Service team is delighted to support you with any queries or repair issues you may have. Our job is to have you ready to fly as quickly as possible and with a minimum of fuss.

Providing support to customers is very important at microdrones. When our customers are unsure if a cable is correctly connected, what a symbol on the screen means, or whether the aerial vehicle is ok for further flights - that’s where our support pays off. If you’re not sure of something, just ask! We are always there to help you.

If you have a complex technical query, just get in touch with our technical support, which is there to help you!

From time to time a drone crashes or is damaged. If so, no need to worry: our service department will assist you in getting the vehicle back into action.

You may of course use your own payload in combination with a microdrones UAV. Get in touch with us and we will determine the best way of integrating your equipment in a microdrone.

Need help in integrating third party devices? Contact our support team which will be happy to help you with your query.

Thanks to the »myDrone concept«, we can produce a microdrone tailored to your own special needs. As such, hardware upgrade (stronger motors etc.) is just as feasible as a software upgrade (integrating additional equipment etc.).

Want to modify or extend your microdrones aerial vehicle? Get in contact with our support team to find out more about hardware upgrades such as increasing reception performance.

What are the typical areas of application?

Flights for video work and photographs in the following areas:

  • Inspection of oil and gas pipelines, power lines, wind turbines, railway lines...
  • Security measures for anti-terror operations, infrastructure security, scene of crime investigation...
  • Aerial recording of plant, border areas, international summits...
  • Film industry, documentaries, live broadcasting of events
  • Science and research, archaeology, meteorology, environmental surveillance, wildlife documentaries, Arctic research …
  • Mapping using photogrammetry for excavations, agricultural applications...
  • Aerial search and rescue, natural catastrophes…
  • Aerial images of countryside, photographing property, documenting building projects, traffic accidents, analysis work.

What is the maximum flight time for a microdrone md4-200 or a microdrone md4-1000?

The microdrone md4-200 can currently fly for up to 30 minutes. The microdrone md4-1000 has reached a maximum flight time of 88 minutes (see the endurance flight video).

What is the maximum height and range of a microdrone?

Here there are no »real« restrictions and the main limit is nearly always the battery. We have tested our system in service up to 5000m in Switzerland and Tibet.

With special rotors we could actually reach even higher altitudes. With respect to the range, the maximum distance from the operator or ground control station is the same when we talk of pure range (e.g. in automatic flight mode). When we examine remote control it depends very much on the option selected. We can offer radio connections from 500m (typical for »inspection services«) to several kilometres (typical scenario for »border controls«).

How much do I need to invest to buy a microdrone?

The entry price for a microdrones system starts around 8.000 €. Please contact our sales team for a detailed offer sales@microdrones.com.

What safety features are on the microdrones?

As well as GPS, which guarantees precise handling of your microdrone, other safety features are integrated including: self test, GPS homing (automatic return to base), automatic landing, virtual fence, real time error messages and automatic emergency landing in case of battery or control problems, to name just a few ...

How much training is required to operate a microdrone?

It is usually very easy to get started with a microdrone. With the purchase of every microdrone we offer a free two-day training course. Normally most pilots require only one day to learn to fly a microdrone. Alongside the flight training, operating software is also explained with the complementary training.

Can a microdrone fly in rain, snow or strong winds?

Yes. Thanks to its rugged carbon fibre housings, advanced motors and highly efficient batteries, microdrones can operate in the toughest conditions including rain and snow. Wind up 12 m/s or scorching desert heat or icy Artic conditions are all taken in their stride, shown by over 1,000 microdrones working every day around the world.

Can microdrones fly over fire or extreme heat?

Yes. The housing and the electronics of microdrones have been comprehensively tested for thermal stability. In different tests amazing results and insights have been recorded. For instance, the structural parts and electronics can operate without problem in temperatures up to 130°C. Flight testing over real fires resulted in temperatures recorded inside the UAV of less than 50°C, showing that a microdrone can easily fly over fires. Despite strong winds and extreme thermic conditions, automatic GPS allows the microdrone to hover of a POI without the pilot having to make any inputs.

Can microdrones be used to inspect high voltage power lines?

Yes. The electronics and the system were successfully tested at 380 kV in the High Voltage Laboratory of the Technical University of Dresden. Here the microdrone was placed as close as 3m to the high voltage cable. In a further test the influence of magnetic fields was tested. The results confirmed the trouble-free operation of all systems. Worldwide numerous companies profit from our highly professional approach to high voltage testing.

Is microdrones a German brand?

Yes. microdrones was founded in 2005 in Siegen, Germany. However, long before the founders of microdrones were developing the key components of MUAV based on quadrocopter technology. Pioneering work that still sets an industry-wide benchmark.
