Going to Geo Week and the ILMF? Don't miss this LiDAR workshop and Panel Discussion

Dr. Mostafa has a Ph.D. in Geomatics Engineering from the University of Calgary and more than 18 years of experience in system design, development, integration, calibration, and quality control. He has managed and delivered projects in the United States, Canada, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East and has contributed to more than 160 technical publications, including the Manual of Photogrammetry 5th edition and the DEM User Manual. He served as Vice President of Commission 1 (sensors and platforms) for the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and as the Chair of the Direct Georeferencing Committee of the American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS). Currently he serves as the Chair of the ASPRS Precision Mapping by UAS Committee. He won 11 international awards over the last 26 years.

IMPORTANT WORKSHOP FOR GEO WEEK/ILMF ATTENDEES INTERESTED IN DRONE LIDAR

This coming week will be very busy for geomatics professionals around the world, who will be converging in Denver, Colorado for Geo Week and the ILMF. (International LiDAR Mapping Forum)

If you've been thinking about making drone LiDAR systems a part of your work, then you will definitely want to register now for this valuable workshop.

UAS Lidar for Precision Mapping will be lead by Dr. Mohamed Mostafa, from Microdrones, and will help attendees understand LiDAR from a technical and business perspective.

It's hapPening on January 31 from 7:45am until noon in the Granite AB Room.

Here's a course description:

Professional grade lidar systems are currently being used onboard unmanned aerial systems for high precision mapping applications. This workshop is intended for the unmanned airborne lidar user community including mapping professionals, land surveyors, managers, and decision makers to understand the underlying concepts of lidar from the technical and business perspective, in the form of theory and practice, using real data sets from around the world.

DUE TO POPULAR DEMAND: ADDITIONAL PANEL DISCUSSION

Please note! Due to popular demand for UAV LiDAR content, an additional panel discussion has been added to the International LiDAR Forum.

High Precision Mapping By Unmanned Airborne LiDAR

Abstract: This Panel Discussion will address the main topics affecting the development, production and Use of Unmanned Airborne LiDAR Systems for High Precision Mapping Purposes. The User is the focal point of the panel discussion while the technical capabilities and challenges will be addressed by the LiDAR and the drone vendors as well.

Time:  Wednesday 11:30 to 12:30

Panel moderator: Dr. Mohamed Mostafa (Microdrones)

Additional panel members will include experts from Riegl, Applanix and field professionals currently deploying this technology successfully.
