Microdrones Shows Off New LiDAR Solution at Ocean Mapping Symposium

This week, team members Stéfanie Van-Wierts (LiDAR mdSolutions Development Lead) and Sebastien Long (Key Accounts Sales Manager and Drone Pilot) attended a Symposium hosted by the Interdisciplinary Center for the Development of Ocean Mapping (CIDCO) in Rimouski, Quebec.

The CIDCO Symposium brought together maritime specialists from around the world and covered topics like ocean cartography, hydrology, autonomous bathymetry, and high-tech solutions for positioning and water level measurement.

Stéfanie and Sebastien presented Microdrones new, highly anticipated LiDAR system

“We were very excited to be at this event,” said Sebastien. “There were a wide variety of organizations represented from the world of maritime survey. It was a pleasure to show them the quality of our solution and why they need a Microdrones UAV in their toolbox. There is a lot of inaccessible terrain around shores and our new Microdrones mdMapper1000DG +LiDAR will be a game changer for their work.”

Recently, Stéfanie and Sebastien also began working with the University of Sherbrooke on a project using mdMapper +LiDAR  to measure snow depth in the mountains. Check out a video/photos from their first mission below:
