2020 Microdrones World Tour is Underway

Where in the world is the Microdrones 2020 World Tour

The Microdrones sales team is taking its show on the road, engaging in direct, in-depth, face-to-face talks with key user communities and prospective clients all around the world.

The 2020 edition of the Microdrones World Tour kicked off in the backyard of our Rome headquarters at the New York State Association of Professional Land Surveyors 61st Annual Surveyors Conference hosted by the Northern New York Association of Land Surveyors (NNYALS). The event was held January 22-24, 2020, at the Turning Stone Resort & Casino located in Verona, New York.

Microdrones US Northeastern Sales Manager Sebastien Long, Sales Director Chuck Dorgan and Marketing Director Bret Burghdurf attended the event, where they featured the latest mdLidar solutions from Microdrones.

The theme of this year’s conference, “Surveyors Summit,” highlighted the NNYALS regional whose local area includes the Adirondack Park. The Adirondack Park is a natural wilderness unlike any other. Surveyed by Verplanck Colvin, “The Great Surveyor of the Adirondacks” from 1872 to 1900, the park spans across six million acres. Covering 1/5 of New York, it is the largest publicly protected area in the contiguous United States.

A Microdrones Integrated System would have come in very handy for Mr. Colvin.

In addition to showcasing the Microdrones LiDAR systems, answering questions and networking, the team was able to provide the conference with a sneak peek at the new reality surveying series, “Down to Earth.”

“Down to Earth” is a new reality series that shows how real surveyors collect data and turn it into real deliverables, despite challenging conditions, rugged terrain and lurking danger.  The series will premiere on Wednesday, February 19 with more details to follow.

“We received an overwhelming, positive response to the screening of Down to Earth,” said Chuck Dorgan. “The show captivated the audience and we had lots of requests to see the final data deliverables from the project. I’m excited to launch the series and let other surveyors see the quality of work and data that our systems can deliver.”

“We frame Down to Earth within the genre of a reality series, because part of the show is watching surveyors work out in the field, set up their equipment, and deal with all the different elements and challenges they face,” said Bret Burghdurf. “Plus, it's more engaging and fun to watch. But at the end of the day, whatever happens in the field, they’re still responsible for getting their job done.  That’s where our series demonstrates how Microdrones can make that process more efficient with powerful end deliverables. If you want to see an example of really good data, then watch Down to Earth.”
