AUV Surveillance in Earthquake-Stricken Cangyuan


Once a earthquake occurred on March 1 2015 in the Cangyuan county, the UAV Emergency Team was dispatched right away by Yunnan Bureau of Survey and Mapping to deploy a md4-1000 to the stricken area to provide emergency survey and mapping support. In accordance with the local weather and geo-environment on March 3 2015, at 12 am, a 30-minute flight was conducted over Mangka to shoot aerial images at a height of 400m and over an area of 1.8km², obtaining 124 images with a resolution of 0.1m; at 3:10 pm, a 25-minute flight was conducted over Piancun to shoot aerial images at a height of 400m and over an area of 1.6km², obtaining 146 images with a resolution of 0.1m.

After the flight, the team fights to finish data processing and image interpretation, and provide the rescue and relief command with high-resolution image data as a scientific basis for disaster evaluation and safety inspection.
