Microdrones combines expertise in three domains: Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and image post-processing. We offer integrated solutions that allow our customers to easily collect aerial data and process it to generate useful information. Our solutions support various industries in making better decisions and optimising their operations.

Summary of Position

The person in this position will be responsible for providing technical support to customers in Australia, maintaining and repairing equipment and conducting test and demonstration fights. The person will also lead the CASA ReOC application process and perform the function of Chief Pilot for Microdrones in Australia. The candidate will work in collaboration with colleagues in Australia, Canada and Germany.

Relationships and Authorities
  • Reports to Sales Manager Australia NZ PNG
  • Works closely with Microdrones Customer Support and Solutions teams

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes


  • Qualification in one of the following: aircraft maintenance, manufacturing, avionics, electronics
    OR extensive equivalent work experience
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills
  • RePL multi rotor sub 25kg class
  • Sound knowledge of CASA Regulations
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Team player
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Australia, NZ and PNG
  • Unrestricted C class drivers license
  • Ability to pass site specific drug and alcohol tests when required
  • An unrestricted right to work in Australia


  • Experience in aerial surveying, spatial data capture and processing

Key Responsibilities:
  • Liaise with customers and resellers to augment customer support
  • Inspect, replace and repair UAV and associated payload equipment in accordance with manufacturers requirements
  • Maintain records of all equipment received, repaired and dispatched
  • Install firmware and software updates
  • Maintain inventory of spare parts and consumables
  • Conduct flight testing
  • Conduct demonstration flights
  • Conduct flight training
  • Manage systems and procedures relating to technical performance
  • Manage field compliance with business management systems and CASA standards
  • Undertake duties required of Chief Pilot
