Microdrones and Optron attended the AfricaGEO conference, held in Gauteng this week. According to AfricaGEO organizers, Gauteng is one of nine provinces in South Africa, with a rich history in gold mining that helped it develop into South Africa’s economic hub, accounting for a third of the country’s gross domestic product.
Hanno Truter, Sales Manager for Microdrones in Africa explains, "The conference emphasizes Geomatics in the African context." Topics covered included surveying, Geo-Information Science (GISc), Remote Sensing, Development Planning and Land Tenure. He added, "This made it a perfect venue for Microdrones and our highly trusted distributor in the region, Optron."
Dr Mohamed Mostafa of Microdrones presented on Geometric Accuracy Assessment of Unmanned Digital Cameras and LiDAR Payloads and also hosted a workshop on Precision Airborne Mapping using Unmanned Integrated LiDAR/Imaging Systems. The presentations were well received. Prospective customers at the Optron booth were inspired by the possibilities of drones as serious tools for surveying, mapping and construction applications.
