The European Drone LiDAR Tour rolls through France

The Microdrones World Tour Rolls through France with Lidar Demos

The Microdrones Sales team continues to host demonstrations, meetings, and conferences, taking all necessary local safety guidelines into account, as part of the Microdrones World Tour. Recently the European Drone Lidar Roadshow made stops in France in Lyon and Paris. Irene Jimenez, Microdrones sales manager for southwest Europe, organized the event in conjunction with our distributor LePont Instruments.

In Lyon and Paris, both the mdLiDAR1000 aaS and the mdLidar3000 aaS were used in a full demonstration of the Microdrones workflow of Plan, Fly, Process and Visualize  where the integrated systems collected data over vegetation and powerlines.

Jimenez was pleased with the turnout for both events. “In Paris, there were 6 companies represented and 9 in Lyon,” she said. “Our Lidar Roadshow is a great opportunity to see how our systems work in the real-world and optimize your time and effort. We were able to demonstrate how you can accomplish a weeks’ worth of surveying in a single day, from start to finish.”

At each event, both the mdLiDAR1000 and mdLiDAR3000 were deployed to collect data over vegetation and powerlines. In the morning, after coffee and introductions, the team from Microdrones and LePont Instruments had clients get up close and personal with each of the systems. Didier Persin, general manager for LePont Instruments, wanted clients to be more comfortable with the technology.

“Part of our job is to demystify drone and LiDAR technology, and show our customers it can easily be managed,” said Persin. “That’s why we ask them to assist with the set-up and get more acquainted with the entire system.”

After planning the mission in mdCockpit, setting up the base station and going through the pre-flight checks, the clients watched as the drones each flew their mission. During the lunch break, the Microdrones team processed the data for review in the afternoon.

After lunch, the group reassembled for a live demonstration of mdInfinity, going through the workflow and data visualizations from the morning flights.

“This is where the entire LiDAR tour really shines,” said Jimenez. “Because we are able to successfully demonstrate the entire workflow and deliverable in one day. That’s impressive to our audience.”
