Drone LIDAR

IS YOUR DRONE LIDAR PROCESSING SOFTWARE UP TO DATE

LP360 new desktop features now available in version 2022.1

LP360, the professional choice in LiDAR & photogrammetry 3D point cloud software since 2006, continues to improve its functionality regularly. The company provides various new features to its processing workflow to make easy work of extracting information and generating deliverables in an intuitive GIS environment.

LP360 is pleased to announce the latest features and updates to LP360 Desktop in version 2022.1 are now available.

Summary of LP360 Desktop Version 2022.1 Release

The release of LP360 desktop version 2022.1 includes several new but important features and functionalities to make the most of processing your geospatial data.

To begin, TrueView EVO is now LP360 Drone, the software used to post-process your raw flight data. LP360 will generate a 3D LIDAR point cloud in LAS format, colorize the point cloud, and geotag the images collected. Tools such as accuracy assessment, automatic and manual ground classification, and contour/ surface exporting.

TrueView/Microdrones Sensor Support

LP360 has added support to process data collected from the full line of TrueView 3D Imaging Sensors and the full line of drone surveying equipment from Microdrones.  These include the TrueView 645/650, TrueView 655/660, TrueView 515, TrueView 435, the new mdLiDAR1000UHR, mdLiDAR3000TripleCam, mdLiDAR3000TripleCam+, and the updated mdLiDAR1000HR and the updated mdLidar1000LR.

Multi-cycle import is also available for the TrueView, Microdrones and guest sensors. With this new time-saving function:

  • Cycles can be added with base observation and ancillary files, survey nail information, and batch import, showing progress and status reporting per cycle
  • All base station observation files can be added and the LP360 software will auto select the appropriate ones for each cycle
  • Antenna height is read from the RINEX and where possible the T02 base observation files
  • Create a survey nail/reference mark from the coordinates found in an archived cycle
  • Right-click menu options for setting area, ancillary files, and survey nail/reference mark
  • Support for T02 base observation files for all POSPac-supported trajectory positioning options
  • Automatically generate view groups for each cycle and temporal date

POSPac processing updates have also been included with the latest release.  Now, instead of needing to know the position a priori, LP360 Drone has added support for deriving the survey nail coordinate using Trimble CenterPoint RTX during POSPac processing.

The POSPac Cloud installer has also been added to the LP360 installer to support integrated functions that depend on POSPac Cloud.

Additionally, a QC-Only option in POSPac processing has been added to allow for field checks. Creates rnav/vrms.out and report.pdf files.

Multi-cycle import is now available in LP360

Point Cloud Tasks (PCTs)

The Powerlines Extractor PCT extracts power line catenaries from the point cloud, with options to classify points and vectorize the catenaries. Version 2022.1 includes improvements to the Powerline Extractor PCT to handle larger gaps in points along the span and also updated the Powerline Edit tool.

Ease of Use/Workflow Improvements

Improvements to the workflow in LP360 include added support for user-customizable issues in the QA/QC toolbar along with an Import/Export capability to exchange standardized issue lists between team members.

Furthermore, a new Classify Close to Line tool has been added in the classification tools of the profile view.

Coordinate Reference Systems (CRS) and Datums

LP360 has built in a robust system for assisting users with the projections, datum, epoch, and even local ground transformations that one may encounter while processing data.  This latest release adds support for additional vertical datums in Britain (ODN OSGM15 and HS2-VRF), Germany (DHHN2016 – GCG2016), Portugal (Cascais height – GeodPT08), Romania (Constanta height – Ro-qg401), Slovakia (Baltic 1957 height – dvrm), Sweden (SWEN08_RH70, SWEN08_RH2000, and SWEN17_RH70), and Switzerland (LHN95 height – CHGeo2004 and LN02 – CHGeo2004), NAD83(2011) / Alabama East (ftUS) and West (ftUS), S-JTSK[JTSK03] Krovak & Krovak East North, Colombia Origen-Nacional, MGI Austria East, Central & West.

Orthophoto Tools

Metashape for EVO (MfE) is now Ortho Mapping. This dramatically streamlines the production of ground surface orthomosaics when using a LiDAR sensor. The Ortho Mapping feature in LP360 has added a cloud option for processing True Pose images to an orthomosaic and updating their positions and orientations to the bundle block adjustment (BBA) values.
