This year, the International LiDAR Mapping Forum (ILMF) and American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing’s (ASPRS) will be having a joint annual conference, bringing together the brightest minds and the biggest players in the industry. Set to take place February 5th through 7th in Denver, Colorado, this three-day joint trade show will include workshops, product demonstrations, and social gatherings, perfect for stakeholders, professionals, and customers to come together, learn, and network. Between these two shows, attendees will have maximum exposure to the forefront in geospatial solutions, as well as technical education and peer networking, through the IMLF product reviews and the ASPRS workshops.
To celebrate their attendance, Microdrones will be hosting a Microdrones Workshop Day on February 8th, the day after the conference officially ends. The Microdrones event will consist of two workshops, intended for geospatial professionals, business owners, and academics who are interested in learning about new developments in aerial LiDAR, and how LiDAR’s capabilities might be of use in their operations.
ASPRS Annual Conference
American Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is a scientific association serving over 7,000 professional members around the world. Their mission is to advance knowledge and improve understanding of mapping sciences to promote the responsible applications of photogrammetry, remote sensing, geographic information systems (GIS), and supporting technologies.
The ASPRS annual conference will feature a wide variety of presentations and workshops for industry applications, technical sessions on everything from aerial mapping to UAV accuracy testing, as well as student research.
ILMF Tradeshow
The ILMF is a technical conference and exhibition focusing on the latest airborne, terrestrial, and underwater LiDAR developments, as well as emerging remote-sensing and data collection tools and technologies.
Microdrones will be on hand to present and demonstrate the capabilities of the mdLiDAR1000, a fully integrated, affordable unmanned aerial LiDAR system. The mdLiDAR1000 is an end-to-end LiDAR solution combining drone, LiDAR payload, and a fully integrated software workflow, with excellent product support. The mdLiDAR1000 is capable of producing 3D point clouds for use in land surveying, construction, oil & gas, and mining. The mdLiDAR1000 consistently provides an accuracy of 6 cm (0.2 ft) when flown at 40 m (130 ft) at a speed of 3 m/s. Microdrones will be demonstrating the capabilities of this system throughout the show.
ASPRS and Microdrones Workshop Day
The ASPRS and Microdrones Workshop Day will take place in the same hotel and begins the day after the trade show ends (February 8th). The day will consist of an independent morning and evening workshop, and will include discussions regarding the use of LiDAR and drones in business applications, and to further highlight the capabilities of the miLiDAR1000 system.
The morning workshop, “Unmanned Airborne LiDAR for Precision Mapping” will be in partnership with ASPRS. It covers the underlying concepts of LiDAR from a technical and business perspective. Major topics include mapping frames of reference, geo-referencing, defining key terms, and a thorough review of LiDAR missions (planning, execution, post-processing, etc.)
The afternoon session, “Microdrones miLiDAR1000 Workshop,” is a product spotlight, highlighting drone hardware, software and workflow. Dr. Mohammed Mostafa and the mdSolutions team will present their new unmanned aerial LiDAR system and its application in surveying, inspection, avalanche detection, forestry and agriculture.
