MICRODRONES INTEGRATED SOLUTIONS FOR SURVEYING, MAPPING AND MINING CONTINUE THEIR GLOBAL TOUR THROUGHOUT THE SPRING

The events, activities and travels for the Microdrones World Tour continue as we head into the 2nd Quarter of 2019.  In this update, we find our team dispersed across the globe supporting our dealers, exhibiting Microdrones integrated solutions and presenting the best that Microdrones has to offer.

Mining and Technical Exhibitions. Letlhakane, Botswana, Southern Africa.

Hanno Truter, Sales Manager for Microdrones Africa, attended the Mining & Technical Exhibition (MTE) in Letlhakane on April 8, held in Botswana, Southern Africa. You can find some of the biggest diamond mines in the world, in Botswana, which is why the travelling exhibition returns to the Southern Africa country year after year. Mining and Technical Exhibitions (MTE), a division within IMD, celebrated its 25th birthday in 2018 and has made a name for itself since 1993 through countless shows at mines across South Africa and the African continent. This year’s expo was another highly attended conference wih more that 400 visitors in attendance, which took place at Thakadu Hotel.

Hanno notes that since the dawn of the new South Africa, the mining industry has undergone massive transformation and abundant growth opportunities for drone use. "It’s a great venue to better understand the needs of the diamond mining industry in Botswana when it comes to surveying, mapping and exploration," says Hanno. "There are many potential applications for our drones and payloads - especially for processing plant inspections, surveillance and security inside mining areas, volumetric and progress reporting and mineral exploration."

Trimble Express Geotronics

Dominik Wójcik, Microdrones Eastern European Sales Manager, held a presentation for our dealer, Trimble Express Geotronics, to review the Microdrones portfolio with a focus on LiDAR. Geotronics is a sales, support, and service company for positioning technology who mainly focuses on GIS, geodesy, mapping and photogrammetry.  Since 2006, Geotronics Slovakia, has been a leader in the distribution of modern Trimble solutions that maximize productivity, efficiency and profitability in geobusiness.

The presentation was an opportunity to meet with Geotronics customers from the region - mostly survey companies or drone services. “I fielded lots of questions about our integrated solutions, payload possibilities and LiDAR usage scenarios.” Dominik said.  “Many of the customers in the area are familiar with LiDAR. However, the integration of drones and LiDAR is still relatively new, and there are there a plethora of opportunities to put our systems to work.”

Dominik also noted that Microdrones offers 2 LiDAR solutions to help customers identify the version that is best suited for their needs.  mdLiDAR1000 is a fully integrated system for producing 3D point clouds optimized for land surveying, construction, oil & gas, and mining applications. Microdrones has developed an end-to-end LiDAR solution combining a drone, a LiDAR payload, a fully integrated software workflow, and world class support to consistently provide quality deliverables.

The mdLiDAR3000 uses the lifting power, resilience and efficiency of the Microdrones aircraft platform to carry a perfectly integrated Riegl miniVUX-1UAV (or an optional miniVUX-1DL) and a Sony RX1R II camera. mdLiDAR3000 is an end-to-end LiDAR solution combining a drone, a LiDAR payload, a fully integrated software workflow, and world class support to consistently provide quality deliverables.

ACEC Roads & Streets Conference 2019

In the States, Rick Rayhel, Microdrones Sales Manager for the Western US, attended the 2019 ACEC Roads and Streets Conference in sunny Tucson, Arizona. This was the 68th annual Arizona Conference on Roads & Streets and is the largest event for Arizona engineers and contractors from the public, tribal, and private sectors. Roads & Streets consists of a Trade-show with over 50 hours of technical seminars and more.

At the show, Rick’s objective was to interact with the construction and engineering community from Arizona to discuss Microdrones solutions and how to assist in successfully integrating UAV solutions into their organizations. “Many of the organizations I speak with are currently using consumer level drones,” Rick explains. “This is a great opportunity to discuss the potential for a more advanced solution, review the benefits and familiarize potential customers with our integrated solutions.”

The trade show features a variety of individuals in the construction and engineering industry, including technicians, surveyors, designers, and project managers. “It’s great to see many organizations recognize the benefits of a UAV solution,” says Rick “Even if they don’t have an existing solution in their own tool box. This represents an exciting time in the UAV industry, as many organizations are beginning to research solutions and build policies for a UAV program, driven from the success they have seen in other businesses and industries. Microdrones has put our systems at the forefront of the industry making it very simple to add our integrated systems into your workflow.”
